fly little dragon, fly.
well i just got an idea and i dont know how everyone will react so open up and tell me what you truly feel about it.....i just thought that it would be cool if they would put dragons in the game for personal use. i dont want dragons as a playable class as some threads have suggested i just think it would be cool if each person could buy their own dragon and ride it where ever they wanted to. and who knows maybe they could make a crafter who would let you buy armor for your dragon. and maybe anet could even make some form of air to air combat. then eventually we could get some form of gvg air combat. maybe just for fun. i dont know. i just think it would be cool to have a black dragon suited in some cool armor. and then we could ride them around everywhere and show them off.

Might be interesting if it was used as transportation between towns. Kind of like an eyrie of Dragons in each town to show a cutscene of flying to your next destination.
Probably only be watched the first few times so have ability to skip the cutscene.

would be novel but it would need a use, so i like the idea of having PvP aerial battles, would be quite funny walking along to have a Wammo fall from the sky

lol yeah just to have aerial battles would be great seeing as i am a big fan of air to air combat. but yes seeing ppl fall from the sky would be great. still my biggest reason for wanting one would be to give us all something to spend our money on.....dragon armor....... or just the dragon itself.

i dunno i just figured it would be everyone's way of having something like a pet. cause i would like to have a pet but i dont like playing as a ranger. and i mean the dragons wont even help in combat they will just like transportation.

I think this would be a good idea, but the whole fact of instancing may as well shoot it down.

I actually like the idea of aerial battles, but there are some large holes in this idea. Not that I don't think it could work, but there would need to be some changes.
For example, this would just blow away the running community. If you have a dragon that can just fly over the combat, you don't even need "profesional" runners anymore. I think the dragons would have to fly low to the ground so as they could take damage. Maybe an inherent speed boost, since it would be stupid to allow someone to use skills while flying. Along that same line, riding a dragon could increase your chance of being knocked down, and since you are on a dragon, knock down time would be higher.
Aerial battles would be fun. Maybe along the lines of the snowball arena. There would be a few skills just for dragon fights, and different types of dragons, with different resistances, defense, health, etc.
Personally I don't think this will ever happen. Although in the back of our minds we're all thinking, "Sweet, friggen' dragons, zOMG!!11!1!!!!1" But, I think we all know Anet doesn't really plan to add dragons to the game. Besides it not like we meet alot of real dragons in-game. Some people consider drakes dragons, but drakes can't fly. And Glint is level 30, how do you think the "dragon vendors" are gonna tame and capture these things? Although I had heard about dragon hatcheries in Factions. I didn't get to play during the pre-order weekend, so I wouldn't know.

i wouldn't make a dragon as a transport way.. but i would defenetly replace the spider from fow by a dragon
1=looks more serious
2=suits better Fow armor and FOW "world"
3=jumps in eyes, unlike the spiders...
4=I HATE SPIDERS!!!! i cant be in same room as a spider
i would even give the ranger a skill that is usuable ONLY if you have a dragon... i was thinking somethin like
"RIDE on your dragon's back and for 10...15 seconds HE MOVES YOU 50% faster (then you move) and you have 75% chance to evade attaks... whiile using that skill all attak skills are disabled)
not to make it too easy, i would make it an elite, with high rechange time... but great to "escape" from heavy aggro places, save party from "return to outpust", or just take sweet creen shots

hey maria i am sry to hear about your fear for spiders but just to let you know that on average every human being eats around 10 spiders a year. most of the time they crawl into your mouth while you are a sleep. and sometimes they also fall into your food without you even noticing and chomp chomp chomp then the spider is gone. plus on another average there are around 50,000 to 60,000 spiders in every square mile. so pretty much no matter what room you go into there are probably spiders in that same room but you just dont know it.

Um if you don't like playing as a ranger, grab another character and change it's profession to x/ranger and ta-da your not a ranger and you can have a pet.

no fiery i dont like ranger as a primary or a secondary. i have found other classes to be much more usefull. so i still want a dragon pet....... ........ but either way i still think this would be a great idea for everyone and i dont really see alot of problems it could bring up. and anyways i think anet's devs could fix anything that could happen due to this addition to the game. well everyone keep adding your critisism if you wish.
and thnx fiery for getting this thread back on topic.

I fly a dragon everytime I map from place to place in Tyria. It's awfully quick... I don't see much.
It'd be awesome to have a dragon as a pet though.
